A bit about me.

Creative at heart. Leader by design.

My name is Corinne Steele and I am a Creative Services Manager living and working in Canberra, Australia. My career started in 2015, in a beautiful boutique graphic design studio where I learned and fell in-love with publication design. Still to this day, if you hand me a lengthy document to typeset, you will find me in my happy place.

I then moved onto Synergy Group – a professional services firm – where I spent 6.5 years applying my creative skills to work for private, public and non-for-profit organisations. There I developed a diverse portfolio which includes a range of projects, from campaigns and branding to publications and infographics. I have honed a meticulous eye for detail and a process-driven approach, enabling me to produce high-quality work with precision, efficiency, and consistency, regardless of the project’s scope.

Throughout my career progression, I have moved into leadership roles seeing me manage diverse projects and teams. It has been within these roles that I have learned of my natural instinct to lead, mentor and support people. Leadership has become an important component of my career which encouraged my decision to begin a new opportunity with a marketing agency – one x – to further grow my leadership experience within a new environment.

Experience.

2025 Creative Services Manager • one x – April 2025 to present

Now a Creative Services Manager, my role at one x will see me leading the creative function of the business. While I am very new into this role currently, I am excited to explore creative leadership in a new environment delivering work to clients primarily within the private sector.

2023 Senior Creative • Synergy Group – July 2023 to April 2025

As a senior creative, my role at Synergy Group was leadership focused and very diverse. I assisted in the management of a creative studio team of 10 people, oversaw both creative and non-creative projects and teams, and co-developed and facilitated a firmwide consulting training program delivered to an average of 80 people, biannually from 2022. While still remaining on the creative tools, my main focus was on creative and art direction, quality assurance, and providing technical training and mentorship. A notable project was the creative and art direction of the ACT Hockey Canberra Chill ‘Play On’ 2023 campaign. In addition to my creative leadership, I also led a 20-person team for the CCCF 4 Grants assessment for the Department of Education, handling project administration, human resouces and client liaison.

2021 Senior Graphic Designer • Synergy Group – January 2021 to July 2023

As a senior designer, I began learning creative strategy which saw me taking lead roles on creative projects. Often working independently, with support from my Creative Director, I worked on projects like the Fraud and Corruption Control behaviour change campaign for the Department of Defence. I was also the creative lead on the Aged Care Quality Standards consultation brand and awareness campaign for the Department of Health & Aged Care, which generated significant awareness and is now viewed by the Department as an example of best practice engagement. Additionally, I played a key role in rebranding The Girls Leadership Network and Care Inc.

2018 Mid Graphic Designer • Synergy Group – June 2018 to December 2020

As a mid-weight designer at Synergy Group, I contributed to a variety of projects, including logos, branding, campaigns and publications. Projects included the design of the Modern Seamless Border Clearance digital interactive report for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry and the Protective Security Policy Framework for the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet. Both projects included infographics and diagrams that transformed complex data into branded and easy to digest designs.

2015 Junior Graphic Designer • Papercut – October 2015 to June 2018

As an intern at Papercut, I was offered a full-time role after completing my Bachelor of Graphic Design. There, I worked on branding projects like the Carers Australia rebrand, designed monthly social media assets for Ainslie Laundrette and designed and typeset annual reports for clients including the Commonwealth Ombudsman and Fair Work Australia.
